Fabrizio Romano Offers Insight on Dominic Solanke’s Potential Move to Arsenal

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has shared his perspective on the speculation surrounding a potential move of Dominic Solanke to Arsenal in the January transfer window. While there’s no concrete development at the moment, Romano addressed the rumours and hinted that Solanke might not be the elite goal-scorer that Arsenal truly needs to strengthen their struggling attack.

In an exclusive statement to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Romano expressed reservations about whether Solanke could be the solution for Arsenal, emphasizing the Gunners’ potential need for a striker of the highest calibre.

Dominic Solanke to Arsenal this January – A Possibility?

Despite Solanke’s impressive form at Bournemouth, where he has notched up 12 goals in 19 league games this season, Romano questioned whether the 26-year-old possesses the consistency to deliver prolific goal-scoring at a top European club.

While acknowledging Solanke’s recent success, Romano pointed out the player’s past struggles during spells at Chelsea and Liverpool. Given these experiences, it remains uncertain whether Solanke could seamlessly transition to a club of Arsenal’s stature.

Regarding the ongoing speculation, Romano provided an update, stating,

“Some Arsenal fans are also asking me about Dominic Solanke after his fine form. I have no update on his future so far; it’s still quiet. He’s doing great, so he could be one to watch, but at the moment I don’t have any concrete updates to speak of.”

He further added,

“Personally, I really like Solanke, but I also think Arsenal need a top, top player in that position should they invest in a striker, and it’s not easy in January.”

While Solanke’s current form makes him a player of interest, Romano’s reservations suggest that Arsenal may need to explore options that align more closely with their ambition and the level of competition in top-flight football.
