Valencia’s Diakhaby Sustains Serious Leg Injury in Draw Against Real Madrid
Valencia’s Mouctar Diakhaby, the 27-year-old defender from Guinea, suffered a severe leg injury during his team’s 2-2 draw against Spanish Liga leaders Real Madrid on Saturday.
How Diakhaby Suffered the Injury
The injury occurred in the dying minutes of normal time when Diakhaby collided with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. Both teams were visibly shaken by the incident, and Diakhaby had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
The match ended amidst controversy, with Real Madrid’s players and staff flooding the pitch after the referee blew the final whistle, denying Jude Bellingham’s potential 99th-minute winning goal.
Real Madrid’s second draw in three league games leaves them seven points ahead of second-placed Girona, who are scheduled to face Mallorca on Sunday.

Real Madrid Failed to Secure a Win
Valencia took an early 2-0 lead in the first half-hour through goals from Hugo Duro and Roman Yaremchuk.
Real Madrid responded just before halftime with a goal from Vinicius Junior, followed by an equalizer from the Brazilian attacker with 14 minutes remaining in the game. Vinicius’ return to the stadium where he previously faced racial abuse added a poignant moment to the match.
In the closing minutes, as Real Madrid pushed for a winner, Diakhaby suffered his leg injury while attempting to clear the ball, with his right leg getting trapped under Tchouameni.
Following the incident, the referee added seven minutes of injury time. However, almost two additional minutes had passed when Bellingham’s goal was disallowed due to the referee’s whistle-blowing during Brahim Diaz’s would-be assist.
This decision sparked heated exchanges between both teams, particularly infuriating Real Madrid as it provided Girona with an opportunity to narrow the gap to four points in Sunday’s match.
