David Moyes Lands New Job Just Days After Confirming West Ham United Exit
David Moyes has already secured a new job, just days after announcing that he will leave West Ham United at the end of the current Premier League season. The Scottish manager has been confirmed as a part of talkSPORT’s analyst panel for Euro 24, which is going to start in June this year in Germany.
A few days ago, West Ham United confirmed that they would part ways with the storied manager in the summer. Moyes led the Hammers to their first major title in over 43 years as they miraculously went all the way to lift the UEFA Conference League trophy at the end of the last season in Prague. However, the London club couldn’t continue their glorious momentum this season under the 61-year-old’s stewardship as they went through an up-and-down journey in all competitions this season, resulting in the East London outfit and Moyes concluding their four-and-a-half-years partnership. The Hammers currently hold 9th position in the Premier League table with 49 points, and are just 5 points behind Manchester United.
Moyes released a statement announcing that he was moving away from the London Stadium at the end of the season, and this decision was based on “mutual consent”. He further expressed his gratitude for the “wonderful” journey with the club, players and fans during his second stint as a manager.
David Moyes Lands New Job
After confirming his exit from West Ham, Moyes wasted no time in returning to work, with his new employers, talkSPORT announcing the news on social media on Thursday.
The social media post of talkSPORT read: “Give it Moyes for the Euros,” confirming his appointment.
“David Moyes joins the talkSPORT team to provide his expert insight and analysis throughout the tournament.”
The former Manchester United manager will sit alongside the Scottish contingent to feature on radio with the likes of Graeme Souness and Ally McCoist during the Euros. No further details have been provided about the Hammers’ soon-to-be-leaving manager’s role with the radio broadcaster.
Speaking to talkSPORT he said: “With the distinct lack of Scottish football voices on talkSPORT for the Euros tournament – just the five so far with Ally, Alan, Shebahn, Jim and Graeme in the mix – I’m delighted to be another Scot flying the flag for my home team on the best sports network.
“The more the merrier, eh?”
Moyes is no stranger to the world of broadcasting, having previously provided commentary for BBC Radio during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He has also featured in commentary roles for talkSPORT, BBC, STV, Sky Sports, and Premier Sports. Scotland is scheduled to kick off their Euro 2024 campaign against hosts Germany on June 14.
