Disgraced Former Barca star Dani Alves planning shock return to football

The 40-year-old was convicted of rape in February

Former Barcelona star Dani Alves is planning a shock return to football just weeks after being convicted of rape. The Brazilian was found guilty at a Spanish court in February this year and has been released on bail after serving four weeks in prison.

Although he was given a four-year sentence, Alves was granted bail after paying £850,000, while the court had also ordered him to pay €150,000 euros to the victim after the ruling.

Now, reports suggest he is planning to return to football in a shocking turn of events, although Alves faces an uphill battle to resurrect his image, which has been tarnished following his conviction.

It is claimed that the former Brazil international wants to return to the professional football circuit if his appeal against the ruling is successful, although Spanish journalist Jesus Garcia Bueno feels that he may not return to playing per se, but could opt for a non-playing role.

A legendary player’s legacy is now tarnished!

Dani Alves was widely considered one of the best full-backs of his generation. After coming of age at Sevilla, he secured a move to Barcelona in 2008, and over the next eight years, played a key role in the club’s series of title success. Before returning to Brazil, Alves also enjoyed brief but fairly successful spells with Juventus and PSG, before making a brief return to Barcelona in 2021. On the international stage, he made 126 appearances for Brazil, winning four titles too. With such a glorious career behind him, Alves had left an incredible legacy, but it’s now been tarnished following his conviction.
