Crystal Palace vs Man United Player Ratings: Michael Olise Scores Twice and Casemiro Disappoints

Manchester United have suffered a massive blow to their chances of making it to Europe next season. They were thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace on Monday night at the Selhurst Park.

The Red Devils went behind early in the game after Michael Olise scored in the 12th minute. They seemed to have equalized just before the half-hour mark, but Casemiro’s goal was ruled out because Rasmus Hojlund fouled the Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson before the ball went in.

Jean-Philippe Mateta managed to make Manchester United pay for their sloppy positions in the defence by scoring in the 40th minute. He eased past Jonny Evans and then fired in at the near post past Andre Onana to make it 2-0.

The second half was no better for the Red Devils as they conceded just 13 minutes after the restart. Tyrick Mitchell popped up the six-yard to tap-in a third and seal the win for the home side.

However, Oliver Glasner’s side were not done scoring and managed to make it 4-0 in the 66th minute. Daniel Munoz and Michael Olise combined once again to make it a memorable night for the Palace fans.

Without further ado, here are the Crystal Palace vs Man United player ratings for the Premier League match:

Crystal Palace vs Man United Player Ratings

Crystal Palace player ratings

Dean Henderson – 7/10

Hardly had anything to do in the game as Manchester United’s attacks had tame efforts in the final third. He made two saves, but was a spectator with the best eats i the house most of the time.

Nathaniel Clyne – 8/10

The former Liverpool man pocketed the United striker Alejandro Garnacho with ease and did not let the Argentine get anywhere near the goal. He had to make just one block in the game and won both his duels.

Joachim Andersen – 7/10

The Crystal Palace captain also had very little to do in the game as he was shadowing Rasmus Hojlund and ensuring that the Manchester United star hardly got the ball. Made a stunning last-ditch tackle which was cleared by VAR despite the traveling side appealing for a penalty.

Chris Richards – 8/10

Managed to keep Antony quiet with ease and then produced a stunning pass to Mateta to make it 2-0 in the first half. He hardly had to break a sweat to keep the Brazilian at bay.

Daniel Muñoz – 9/10

The new signing from Genk proved why he was bought by the London side with a stunning performance. He was up and down the right flank throughout the game and assisted Olise for both the Frenchman’s goals.

Adam Wharton – 8.5/10

If Sergio Busquets was watching the match today, he would have seen a younger version of him playing for Crystal Palace. The new signing was brilliant once again and was stopping the Manchester United attacks even before they started.

Will Hughes – 8/10

Unlike his partner in the midfield, Hughes was more involved in keeping his position and ensuring the wing-backs had enough opportunity to go up front. He played his role well and finished with 90% pass accuracy in 68 minutes.

Tyrick Mitchell – 8.5/10

The goal was the icing on the cake for the young defender who was operating from the left flank today. He managed to get into the right position all the time and was troubling Dalot and Antony at every opportunity.

Michael Olise ( Image From Twitter)

Michael Olise – 10/10

Absolutely sensational today and was getting past the Manchester United defense with ease. The two goals he scored showed that he is ready to make the jump and join a bigger team this summer.

Eberechi Eze – 8.5/10

No goal or assist for the Englishman today, but he was a key for the way Glasner’s side played. He was creating space and getting in behind to make chances for his teammates.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – 8/10

A performance even Didier Drogba would have been proud of today. The Frenchman was relentless and kept going until the minute he was taken off. The goal was a piledriver with very few keepers would have saved.

Jaïro Riedewald – 7/10

Came on for Will Hughes but hardly managed to make an impact.

Odsonne Édouard – 7/10

Glasner sent in Edouard for Mateta but he could not get on the scoresheet. Managed to hit the post but was caught in a battle with Sofyan Amrabat more than anything in the box.

Marc Guehi – 6/10

Hardly had anything to do after coming on for the final 12 minutes.

Jeffery Schlupp – 6/10

Hardly had anything to do in the final 5 minutes of the game.

Manchester United player ratings

André Onana – 5/10

Made 6 saves to keep the scoreline 4-0 but should have done a lot better for the last goal. Was hardly getting into the right position and got beat at the near post easily.

Diogo Dalot – 4/10

Eze was easing past Dalot, and Mitchell was too. The Portuguese star was hardly able to get anything right in attack or defence.

Casemiro – 3/10

Manchester United’s captain on the night and also their worst player on the pitch. Was on the ground to let Olise through for the first goal and then got beaten easily for the 4th goal of the night, once again scored by the Frenchman.

Jonny Evans – 4/10

Slotted in because of a late injury to Harry Maguire, and he would be hoping that it was not the case. The veteran was humiliated by the Palace forwards as they ran rings around him the full game.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 5/10

The right-back was the only defender who tried to keep Manchester United in the game. But he was getting beaten with ease as there was no help from Garnacho or Evans.

Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10

His mistake almost gifted another goal to Olise but the Crystal Palace star’s mistouch and Onana’s swift movement stopped the ball from going in. In the midfield, he kept trying to no avail.

Christian Eriksen – 4.5/10

Eriksen tried to work his magic in the midfield but was just not able to get things going as the forwards were getting marked out or tacked with ease. He finished with 82% pass accuracy but only managed one shot in the game.

Antony – 3/10

Another game, another disappointing performance. The Brazilian scored last week against Burnley, but things have not improved for the winger as he once again failed to do anything meaningful on the pitch.

Mason Mount – 4.5/10

The former Chelsea midfielder has been a shadow of himself since returning from injury. He played 80 minutes against Crystal Palace but did not manage a single shot on target or a key pass in the game. Was hardly seen on the ball and looked out of position most of the time.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10

A performance to forget for the Argentine as he failed to do anything meaningful from the left flank. Missing the services of Bruno Fernandes, the winger could hardly get behind the Palace defence who managed to keep him quiet.

Rasmus Houjlund (Image From Twitter)

Rasmus Højlund – 4.5/10

Another game where the striker will complain of lack of service. However, he was hardly getting Andersen off him and that kept him isolated from his teammates as they were reluctant to pass it to him.

Sofyan Amrabat – 4/10

The loanee was signed with a lot of promise but has hardly managed to make an impact in any of the games except for the win over Chelsea.

Amad Diallo – 3.5/10

Hardly made an impact despite coming on in the final 10 minutes.

Ethan Wheatley – 4/10

Hardly made an impact despite coming on in the final 10 minutes.
