Cristiano Ronaldo to MLS? Gary Neville Fuels Speculation on Superstar’s Next Move
Throughout his professional career, Cristiano Ronaldo has shown his extraordinary ability to adapt and create a legacy in some of the world’s top leagues. He has enjoyed success in England, Spain, Italy and now in Saudi Arabia where he serves as the league’s poster boy.
The 39-year-old forward has now been heavily linked with a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) with his former Man United teammate Gary Neville sparking new speculation about the superstar’s next big move.
The idea of Ronaldo making an impact in the United States alongside Lionel Messi looks like a dream but these speculations could become a reality next summer.
What has Gary Neville said about Ronaldo’s move to MLS?
MLS has become a retirement heaven for ageing superstars who have also made a great contribution to the development of the league. A big-money move to MLS could very well be the final chapter of his illustrious career according to former Manchester United defender Gary Neville.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has dominated in England. He’s scored goals in Italy, he’s scored goals in Spain, now he’s scoring goals in Saudi Arabia. All that’s left is MLS, right?
This guy, honestly, doesn’t stop. But I still think he’ll be playing in Saudi Arabia for another year or so.
When his contract there ends, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Cristiano Ronaldo showed up in New York, Los Angeles, or one of the big cities, finished his career in America for a year or two, and did what he does best now, which is score goals.”
Despite the unlikelihood of such a transfer, the desire to watch re-editions of the Ronaldo vs Messi rivalry could be a treat to the eyes of every football fan.
