Cristiano Ronaldo Stats: Portuguese becomes first player to win Golden Boot in four different leagues

Cristiano Ronaldo has added yet another feather to his impressive hat as he became the first player to become the top scorer in four different leagues in Europe. The Portugal international who will be playing for his country at the upcoming Euro 2024, scored his 35th goal for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) on Monday (May 28) and registered the feat to his name. The legendary former Real Madrid player is now 39 and still doing good to impress the sporting world.

Ronaldo adds another feather to the hat

Playing for Al-Nassr against Al-Ittihad, Ronaldo scored a brace which included goals in the third minute of first half stoppage time and in the 69th minute which helped his team to a 4-2 win. The strikes saw him become the first player to top four leagues which also include the Premier League, Serie A and the La Liga. Ronaldo has won the Golden Boot in all three leagues previously and will receive yet another one in the SPL.

Interestingly, he also played in the Portugal Liga Nos but did not win the Golden Boot having not spent much time in his native country before moving to Manchester United in 2003. Ronaldo was also the top scorer in the Champions League on multiple occasions which sees him top the chart of yet another competition. He scored in every Champions League match during the 2017-18 Champions League match, holding a special place in European football.

Ronaldo could have also added to his 65 career hat-tricks had he not been substituted by manager Luis Castro in the 74th minute. Al-Nassr received a penalty in the 79th minute for which Ronaldo was not on the pitch as a result it was Abdulrahman Ghareeb who placed the ball home for the comprehensive win.

The result, however, did not mean much for Al-Nassr as they finished the season with 82 points and a staggering 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal. Throughout the season Ronaldo’s side lost only four matches and scored 100 goals in the season while conceding 42.

Al-Hilal make headlines

However, it was champions Al-Hilal who made the headlines and finished the season as invincible as they did not face a single defeat and scored 101 goals, one more than Al-Nassr. They dropped only six points in the entire season which stands as the greatest league season by any team in modern football. Al-Hilal managed 2.82 points per season, which is the highest for any team in the three-point system in modern football.
