Cristiano Ronaldo has added a new feather to his cap. He is now the owner of one of the fastest growing YouTube channels in the world. His ‘UR Cristiano’ channel has smashed all records, passing 1 million subscribers in less than 90 minutes, before than racing past 10 million. At the time of writing, the channel has 19 videos and a total following of over 23 million.

All the videos in the channel are extremely short and in total have over 85 million views as of when this article was written. This is now another source of income for Ronaldo after his many endorsements and his massive contract with Al Nassr.

Ronaldo is the most followed person on Instagram but he has some distance to go in order to become the most popular on YouTube. That honour belongs to American youtuber MrBeast, who has over 311 million subscribers. According to Thinkific, YouTube creators earn between $2 and $12 per 1,000 views. Advertisers pay a set rate to the platform for every 1,000 views, with YouTube keeping 45 per cent of ad revenue while creators get the other 55 per cent. In addition, they get separate income from sponsors.

MrBeast’s channels generate approximately 400m views on his videos and $3-5 million in monthly gross revenue from ads alone, excluding anything he earns from sponsors.

Ronaldo could earn a similar amount from the app, including even more from sponsors. He is already the top earner in sport according to Forbes and this has the potential to make him even more money.
