Copa America 2024 Most Assists: Who Leads The Race?
Copa America 2024 has seen two matches so far, with Argentina taking on Canada and Peru clashing against Chile. Argentina, who are the current holders, beat Canada 2-0 in the opening match of the tournament on Thursday, June 20. Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez scored a goal each to secure all three points for La Albiceleste.
In the second match, meanwhile, Peru and Chile played out a goalless draw. Both teams combined for 18 attempts on goal (7 for Peru and 11 for Chile) but failed to find the back of the net.
The USA is hosting this edition of the Copa America after the previous edition was played in Brazil. The tournament will end on July 14.

Lionel Messi opens his goal contribution tally at Copa America 2024
Lionel Messi had scored the most goals (4) and provided most assists (5) at Copa America 2021, helping Argentina win the trophy.
He couldn’t get on the scoresheet after the first game at Copa America 2024, missing two glorious chances. However, he did provide an assist to help his team secure the victory. He will look to retain both awards from the last edition as the tournament progresses.
During Argentina vs Canada, Alexis Mac Allister made a good run towards Canada’s goal and reached the penalty box. Just before colliding with goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau, he intelligently nudged the ball toward Julian Alvarez, who put it in an empty net in the 49th minute.
Lionel Messi then provided the second assist of Copa America 2024 when he played a neat pass towards Lautaro Martinez. The Inter Milan striker made a composed finish through the legs of Crepeau to seal the win for Argentina.
