Conor Gallagher’s condition to leave Chelsea this summer revealed
Conor Gallagher’s condition is to move to a top club
Chelsea star Conor Gallagher seeks a move to a top Premier League side in the event of a departure from Stamford Bridge this summer. The Blues are under pressure to raise £100 million this summer in order to avoid breaching the Premier League profit and sustainability (PSR) regulations.
This is compelling the side to sell a few players this summer, including Gallagher, who is valued at £45 million to £50 million. The midfielder wants to move to a top club should Chelsea go ahead with his sale, as Tottenham Hotspur remains an option.
Spurs have been an admirer of his for long and head coach Ange Postecoglu will be looking to strengthen his squad this summer, especially if his side qualifies for the Champions League.
Gallagher will be entering the final year of his contract post this season and there’s still no clarity on his future yet, with Chelsea not opening up talks of a contract extension yet.
Since all their player sales will be deemed as “pure profits”, Chelsea might be looking to get him off the books, with Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen also on the chopping block.
Chelsea set for another summer of squad overhaul
Just a year on from their massive clear-out which saw a host of big names leave, Chelsea are set for another summer of player sales. While the PSR regulations are the biggest reason behind it, the club’s continued poor run under Mauricio Pochettino means it is much needed. With just 12 wins from 30 games and 44 points in the bag, the Blues are down in ninth position of the Premier League table and could be set for another season without any European football, which will only incur more financial losses next season.
