Why was Cole Palmer seen shouting at teammate Axel Disasi?

The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United who are languishing at the bottom of the league table after Chelsea conceded a goal in the 93rd minute, continuing their miserable form this season.

Cole Palmer Shouts at Disasi

The visitors also dropped points against relegation-threatened Burnley in March and Pochettino claims Chelsea’s packed schedule is taking a toll on the team.

Chelsea have been dealing with a lot of injuries lately and their marquee player Cole Palmer was withdrawn after 74 minutes with a slight concern over his fitness after he took a knock in the Man United clash on Wednesday night.

Without the Englishman this season, Chelsea would have been languishing in the relegation zone and his influence has been more noticeable in recent weeks. Palmer provided the assist for Noni Madueke’s goal in the second half.

Axel Disasi, primarily a centre-back, was slotted in the unusual right-back position and struggled to get forward and create space for the rest of the squad. Palmer was seen shouting at the Frenchman for being out of position and grabbing his attention to deliver some clear commands.

Is Cole Palmer injured?

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino took attacker Cole Palmer off in the second half of their 2-2 draw with Sheffield United. There were injury fears when the former Man City player was taken off at Bramall Lane after a serious challenge from Jack Robinson which earned him a booking.

Palmer has been Chelsea’s best player of this season by a mile, scoring 16 goals in the Premier League and also registering nine assists in the process.

The West London club have a huge game against Manchester City in the FA Cup sem-final later this month and cannot afford to be without their best player of the campaign. Losing Palmer at this stage of the season would be a major setback for Mauricio Pochettino.

But the Argentine coach explained why he chose to take off the England international with 20 minutes still left to play in the tie against Sheffield United.

Pochettino said: ‘No, no, no. I think he was tired.

‘My feeling was he was tired. Carney [Chukwuemeka] is another number 10 who can play there and do the job.

‘We need to protect him. He got a knock against Manchester United and was a bit more tired than normal. We wanted to protect him after scoring the second goal – trying to avoid a problem in the future.’
