Chelsea vs Brighton Player Ratings: Cole Palmer steals the show and scores all four goals in 4-2 win
Chelsea and Brighton played out a stunning first half but it was Cole Palmer and Robert Sanchez who stole the limelight. The two sides played out a Premier League classic on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Cole Palmer scored all four goals for the Blues this evening, while Robert Sanchez gifted his former side two goals in the first half to make the game exciting.
Here are the Chelsea vs Brighton player ratings:
Chelsea Player Ratings vs Brighton
Goalkeeper
Robert Sánchez – 4: Responsible for both goals scored by Brighton and almost gifted them a third. Chelsea would be hoping that it was just a one-off game and he gets back to his best soon.
Defenders
Malo Gusto – 7: He handled Mitoma brilliantly and ensured that the Brighton star never got a clear chance. He defended most of the time and hardly put a foot wrong.
Wesley Fofana – 7: Solid at the back but was reckless with a couple of tackles. Got booked in the second half and could hardly do anything about the two goals.
Levi Colwill – 7: The Englishman was once again at his best and never put a foot wrong. Tried his best to solve the mess created by Sanchez for both goals, but could not do much.
Marc Cucurella – 7: Scored a goal, but it was ruled out for offside. He never let Rutter take shots easily and was always available to help.
Midfielders
Moisés Caicedo – 7.5: Not his best match today but still better than a lot of others in his team. Never gave away silly fouls, but was out of position a lot.
Enzo Fernández – 7: Chelsea will be hoping that Enzo gets back to his best soon as today was not his game. He still managed to impress, but with Lavia back, he will need to do a lot more to seal his spot.
Noni Madueke – 6.5: No goal or assist for Madueke today but he still managed to help out in attack and defense. He has shown how useful he can be to the team even when he is not on the scoresheet.
Cole Palmer – 10: No words can describe his performance. He could have easily scored another 2-3 goals and even got a couple of assists today.
Jadon Sancho – 8: He has adapted well at Chelsea and has all but sealed the starting spot at left-wing. He got another assist today, making it three in as many games for the Blues.
Forward
Nicolas Jackson – 8: Not his best game in front of the goal as he missed golden opportunities to score. However, he got the assist for the first goal and was making it hard for the Brighton defenders.

Brighton Player Ratings vs Chelsea
Goalkeeper
Bart Verbruggen – 5: Made two saves in the game and should have done a lot better for three of the four goals he conceded. He was not able to do much to help out his defenders, who were not great themselves.
Defenders
Ferdi Kadıoğlu – 6: Hardly involved in the attack and was not able to handle Sancho. He was getting rolled over by the Englishman in defense and Cucurella in attack.
Adam Webster – 6: Made crucial blocks to keep the scoreline respectable and will be hoping that he can do better in the next games. He handled Jackson well but Palmer was simply too good for him.
Lewis Dunk – 6: Handling Jackson was not an issue for him, but he just could not do much about the goals. Tried his best to get close to Palmer, but the Chelsea man was a step ahead.
Pervis Estupiñán – 5.5: Lucky to have escaped a red card as Webster got a couple of steps ahead to ensure his teammate was not the last man. Madueke gave him a hard time even though the Chelsea man did not get on the scoresheet.
Midfielders
Jack Hinshelwood – 5: All over the pitch today and was not able to help out his teammates when needed. He could not get close to Enzo and Caicedo in the midfield.
Mats Wieffer – 5: Another Brighton player who could not do much today as he was getting closed down quickly. He played a lot more as the third center-back as Jackson and Palmer were running circles around them.
Carlos Baleba – 8: The best Brighton player, without a doubt, today. He ‘assisted’ the first goal technically but made the most of Sanchez’s mistake to score the second goal for his side.
Forwards
Georginio Rutter – 7: He scored the opening goal of the match, but it is highly unlikely he will remember it. He got punched in his head seconds after heading the ball and was on the floor.
Danny Welbeck – 6: There was a lot of expectations from Welbeck but he never got space to shoot today. Colwill and Fofana were always on his toes and ensured that the striker never came close to scoring.
Kaoru Mitoma – 6: Kept pushing but never managed to trouble Robert Sanchez. He was unable to brush off Gustoa on most occasions and whenever he did, Fofana closed him down easily.
