Chelsea vs Bournemouth Player Ratings: Mark Travers Shines as Reece James Salvages a Late Draw

Chelsea have dropped points once again and are now winless in their last 5 Premier League matches. They could have eased to a 3-goal lead in the first half but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with a late goal from Reece James.

Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson combined for the opening goal of the game but the two could not add to their tally despite creating more chances for each other. A clumsy foul from Caicedo gave Bournemouth the equalizer early in the second half before Semenyo made it 2-1.

Reece James came off the bench to make it 2-2 for Chelsea in the final minutes of the game.

Goalkeeper

Robert Sanchez – 6: Making way too many mistakes yet again and Chelsea are getting punished. He created Bournemouth’s only chance in the first half.

Defenders

Moises Caicedo – 6.5: Did exceptionally well in the first half but gave away a silly penalty to start Bournemouth’s comeback. Should have kept his calm and not gone in for the tackle.

Josh Acheampong – 7.5: Calm and composed only again but could have done better for the second goal. He gave Semenyo the space to shoot and it cost Chelsea.

Levi Colwill – 7.5: Solid performance once again and never looked like he was troubled by the Bournemouth players. He was easily Chelsea’s best player in the backline.

Marc Cucurella – 7: He was lucky to escape a booking in the first half. He put on a solid display again but was missing easy passes in the seocnd half.

Midfielders

Romeo Lavia – 8.5: Played for nearly an hour as he regained fitness and showed why he is important to Maresca’s system. Solid in intercepting but his passing in the final third was rather poor.

Enzo Fernandez – 8: Played the whole match and was one of their best players. He could have easily scored early in the game but a heavy touch let him down.

Cole Palmer – 8.5: Scored once again and made the most of things every time he was on the ball. He could have easily got a couple of assists as well.

Noni Madueke – 7: Showed hunger but was not lacking the final product. His crosses and shots were easily blocked by the closest Bournemouth player.

Jardon Sancho – 7.5: He was creating chances and taking shots, but just could not get on the scoresheet. He needs to be more clinical and also start taking more shots.

Forwards

Nicolas Jackson – 6.5: Brilliantly created the Chelsea goal but his shots were rather poor the whole game. He also got booked for a clumsy foul in the first half.

Substitutes

Reece James – 7.5

Tosin Adarabioyo – 6

Pedro Neto – 6

João Félix – 6

Manager

Enzo Maresca – 8: He got the starting XI right but needs to be more proactive with his substitutions. He is waiting too long before bringing in players.

Goalkeeper

Mark Travers – 9: The best player on the pitch today. Made 8 brilliant saves after he was humiliated by Cole Palmer for the opening goal.

Defenders

James Hill – 5.5: Never looked comfortable against Jadon Sancho and was taken off in the first half because of an injury.

Illia Zabarnyi – 6.5: Stayed back and made some crucial clocks to help Bournemouth get a point from the match.

Dean Hujisen – 8.5: He has been linked with a move to Chelsea and there is a good chance his price goes up after this performance. He was immense at the back and never let Jackson get space after the opening goal.

Milos Kerkez – 6: He was the up and down the left flank but neither here nor there when needed. He well, however, excellent against Madueke in 1v1 duels.

Midfielders

Lewis Cook – 5.5: Played as a midfielder first and then shifted to right back. Was suffering against Jadon Sancho in both positions.

Tyler Adams – 5: Could not do anything in the game and was just running up and down the pitch today.

David Brooks – 3.5: He was lucky to escape a red card today and that was his highlight. Never looked threatening apart from his single shot right after the red card incident.

Ryan Christie – 5.5: He was rather poor today and failed to do much in the game. He was chasing the ball and never look like a threat for Chelsea.

Antonie Semenyo – 8.5: He won the penalty and then scored the stunning goal to give Bournemouth a chance to win the game. However, he too was lucky to be on the pitch as he was committing a lot of fouls today.

Forward

Dango Ouattara – 5.5: Never got himself involved today and was man marked out of the game by Josh and Levi.

Substitutes

Justin Kluivert – 8

Daniel Jebbison – 6

Manager

Andoni Iraola – 9: Whatever he said at halftime, he needs to do it before matches from now. His side turned things around in the second 45 and how!
