Chelsea Transfer News: Mauricio Pochettino Comments On Upcoming Summer Window
Of course, there is no certainty that Pochettino will continue to lead the first-team squad next season, with a meeting planned shortly after the season’s final game to decide the immediate future.
However, the Argentine is already thinking about the summer window and next season, which is totally understandable given that he has no reason not to. He has stated that unless he learns otherwise, he will continue to plan for the future at Chelsea.
The Premier League outfit are anticipated to sell and sign players again this summer, with a number of situations to be addressed. Pochettino has indicated that he expects some players to want to leave.
According to The Evening Standard, Pochettino said:
“Now is going to start a period where players want to leave, maybe some offers arrive or players that we want to add to the squad. Of course, we have already started to work on this.”
“In the case of Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James. We need to pay attention in the way we need to provide them with a possibility to be fit. Now it is not only a challenge to have them fit now but in the way we manage for a whole season so there are no setbacks again.”
“Of course, in football you always need to take some risks but they have the quality to take some risks.”
Chelsea have lost only one of their previous 13 games. They are on the path of a strong finish to the season and they appear to be on track to qualify for Europe.
What Could Chelsea Look After This Summer?
Chelsea needs a new striker, centre-back, left-back, winger, and goalie. Will they obtain everything? Is it even possible? Who knows. However, if they truly want to compete at the highest level again, these are the positions in which they must sign, and not simply sign, but smartly sign.
Victor Osimhen has been heavily connected with Chelsea, but it doesn’t look like they should spend such a large sum on one player.
What Chelsea should do is upgrade and strengthen what they already have in those areas, as well as add proven and quality experience in a few roles.
