In a massive blow to Chelsea’s plan of rejuvenating their attack with the signing of a top striker, Chelsea target Victor Osimhen seems set to join PSG in the next transfer window. The Napoli striker has been in sensational form in the last few seasons and has been linked to several top clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal. However, reports coming out of Italy now suggest that the Nigerian striker is inching closer to a move away from Italy.

With PSG willing to match the striker’s €120 million release clause, it seems that Victor will now don the Parisian jersey in the summer. PSG also seems to have offered the striker an interesting 4 year contract as the striker contemplates his future. PSG’s staggering deal obviously has sent alarm bells ringing in London as Chelsea were eager to sign the number nine. The London club has several guidelines to adhere to according to the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Regulations and will struggle to match PSG’s enticing offer. 

If Chelsea are to sign Osimhen, they would first have to undertake a massive clearance drive by selling players and lowering their wage bill to offer the striker a good offer. For the moment, it seems that Chelsea target Victor Osimhen is closer to joining PSG. The striker’s transfer will be one of the top stories of the summer transfer window as any club would greatly benefit from his inclusion at their club. 

Victor Osimhen’s battle with injuries

With Chelsea target Victor Osimhen looking set for a blockbuster move from Napoli in the Serie A in the summer, all interested clubs will keep a close eye on the striker’s worrying injury track record this season. The tall Nigerian striker has missed several games for Napoli with a hamstring injury this season and has also picked up minor injuries over the course of the season. Interestingly, Osimhen sustained a similar hamstring injury last campaign which sidelined him for a month. However, with the striker slowly recovering form and returning to Napoli as a regular feature, eyes will be on the striker and his ability to stay fit for the rest of the season.
