Chelsea Seek Striker Reinforcement, Eyes on Johan Bakayoko
Blues Look to Avoid Nicolas Jackson Repeat
Chelsea set their eyes on Johan Bakayoko as they are reportedly actively search for a new striker to bolster their squad this summer. Despite signing Marc Guiu earlier this week, the Blues are keen to find someone to support and compete with Nicolas Jackson.
Jackson had an impressive debut season with Chelsea scoring 17 goals across all competitions. The 23-year-old Senegal international was heavily relied upon last season, making 44 appearances due to a lack of alternative options.
The club now under the management of Enzo Maresca is determined not to repeat last season’s mistakes. They want a new No. 9 to help Jackson, but without hindering his development and Football.London reporter Bobby Vincent has revealed that Johan Bakayoko is on Chelsea’s radar.
This approach aims to ensure Jackson’s progress while providing the team with more depth in the striking department.

Chelsea Targeting Versatile Winger
In addition to a new striker, Chelsea are also seeking a versatile winger to strengthen their front line. Michael Olise was initially a top target, but the deal to sign the Crystal Palace winger fell through. Nico Williams, who is another prospect has impressed at Euro 2024 but his high financial demands have made a summer deal unlikely.
One player on Chelsea’s radar is Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven. The 21-year-old winger who joined PSV’s first team in February 2022 has shown promise and is seen as a potential addition to Chelsea’s attacking options.
Bakayoko’s move could however pose a challenge for Noni Madueke, another former PSV winger who has yet to fully convince the club officials of his capabilities.
Chelsea’s top scorer last season, Cole Palmer has also been deployed on the right wing, but can play through the middle. The club is looking for a winger who can operate on both flanks to provide more flexibility in their attacking strategy.

Looking Ahead: Nkunku’s Potential Role
Chelsea also has high hopes for Christopher Nkunku in his second season. The 26-year-old Frenchman struggled with injuries last term, limiting him to just 14 appearances.
Manager Maresca plans to utilize Nkunku in various roles during the pre-season tour in the United States to find his most effective position.
The Blues believe a fully fit Nkunku could significantly improve their performance in the upcoming season. Chelsea’s fans and officials are optimistic that with the right additions and a healthy squad the team can achieve better results and avoid the pitfalls of last season.
