Chelsea set for major squad overhaul: 12 players to exit in this summer transfer window
Big Changes Ahead at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are gearing up for a significant squad shake-up as the summer transfer window draws to a close. Reports suggest that up to 12 players could leave Stamford Bridge following the departure of six players earlier in the window.
This major firesale aims to streamline Enzo Maresca’s squad and comply with financial regulations.
Among those rumoured to be on the move are Conor Gallagher and Ben Chilwell. Gallagher who has attracted interest from Tottenham could bring in a substantial fee which would be beneficial for Chelsea’s finances.
While Chilwell’s future is also uncertain as his playing style may not align with Maresca’s preferred tactics.

Key Departures Expected at Chelsea
Chelsea’s strategy appears to focus on trimming the squad and generating funds. In addition to Gallagher and Chilwell academy graduates Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja are also reportedly on the transfer list.
Chalobah was notably left out of the club’s U.S. tour and Broja facing competition from new attacking signings could both be sold for profit.
High-profile players like Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga are also expected to leave. Lukaku’s future has been uncertain since his loan spell at Inter Milan and Kepa who was once the world’s most expensive goalkeeper has now struggled for consistency.
Surprisingly, the club might also consider offers for Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic who was Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice shot-stopper last season.
Youth Exodus and Financial Balancing
The potential exits extend beyond established players with five young talents possibly heading out on loan or permanent transfers.
Lesley Ugochukwu, Harvey Vale, Leo Castledine, Cesare Casadei, and David Datro Fofana are among the youngsters who may seek opportunities elsewhere.
Chelsea have been active in the transfer market already making a profit of around £85 million from sales including Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, and Omari Hutchinson.
Additionally, the departures of Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva, and Hakim Ziyech at the end of their contracts have freed up significant wages.
As the Blues look to balance the books and fine-tune their squad for the upcoming season fans can expect more movements in and out of Stamford Bridge.
The club’s ambition remains high and these changes are seen as crucial to maintaining competitiveness both domestically and in Europe.
