Chelsea ponder on Conor Gallagher situation as Spurs change paths and Villa yet to advance on interest

A recent report from ‘Football London’ states that Chelsea is yet to take any major call on midfielder Conor Gallagher’s situation at the club. Their league rivals Tottenham Hotspur who were once termed to be the front-runners for signing the player have now reportedly changed paths and are looking to target Manchester United’s Scott McTominay for their midfield reinforcements in the ongoing summer transfer window.

‘Football London’ has further termed that, no new contract has been yet worked out by the Blues’ upper hierarchy for Conor Gallagher as things stand. The English international’s current contract with the Stamford Bridge-based club expires in June 2025. It was expected that Chelsea could fetch a decent chunk of money for him in this window, considering his performances in the last season.

However, with Tottenham Hotspur’s u-turn and Aston Villa yet to make any major advancements for the midfielder, it may come to a situation where the 24-year-old has no other option left but to stay at Chelsea for the time being as the transfer window races towards the end.

It could be tipped that Enzo Maresca would want to keep the Englishman at the club as he begins his Chelsea journey. But. unless Chelsea offers Conor Gallagher a new contract in the coming days, their ambition to get a good monetary sum for him may fade away very quickly considering his current contract situation.
