Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino in deep trouble as two more defenders get sidelined
Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi are unavailable when Chelsea host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge this Thursday. Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that the centre back pair are injured and it’s not possible to push them to play in the passionate London derby.
Silva was subbed off late in the 90th minute when Chelsea faced Aston Villa last week. Disasi came in as Silva’s replacement, playing for one minute on the pitch. In the latest press meeting, Pochettino said both defenders are unavailable to play against his former employer.
‘It’s not good news because we cannot recover any players in the last week,” he said via the club’s official statement. “Only we need to add two more players, Thiago and Disasi. They will not be available for tomorrow.”
Good news for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino as Noni Madueke hits top form
Despite losing two vital players at the back, Pochettino said that there was one player who has pleased him lately. The Argentinian gaffer admitted that he was impressed with Noni Madueke who has been showing an improvement for Chelsea this season.
Madueke has played 29 games this season with 18 of them being in the league. He has scored seven goals with four in the Premier League, two in the Carabao Cup and one for the FA Cup.
“He is doing well,” Mauricio added. “He scored against Aston Villa, he is improving a lot without the ball. I think the challenge for him is to improve without the ball, to be more connected on the defensive side.
“He can have the profile and of course I hope that he can take advantage of the possibility to play more until the end of the season.”
