Chelsea Joins Arsenal and Manchester United in Pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee
The race to secure the signature of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has intensified, with Chelsea reportedly entering the fray alongside Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.
Despite recent acquisitions in their attacking department, Chelsea’s pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee underscores their commitment to reinforcing their squad for the upcoming season.
Injuries have hampered the impact of Chelsea’s recent attacking signings, with Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, and Deivid Washington facing challenges in making a significant impact.
Nkunku’s limited appearances, Jackson’s disciplinary issues, and Washington’s lack of debut have prompted Chelsea to explore additional options in attack.
Reports suggest that Chelsea are now expressing interest in Zirkzee, who has impressed at Bologna since his move from Bayern Munich in 2022.
The 22-year-old striker’s notable performances in Serie A, including nine goals and four assists this season, have attracted attention from several top clubs.
Zirkzee’s towering stature and improved form have made him an attractive prospect for Chelsea, who may face competition from Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, AC Milan, Roma, and Barcelona for his signature.

While Zirkzee’s contract with Bologna runs until 2025-26, speculation suggests that he may seek a new challenge at the end of the season. Bayern Munich, his former club, reportedly holds a buyback clause, adding complexity to his potential transfer.
In addition to Zirkzee, Chelsea are reportedly considering other striking options, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford‘s Ivan Toney.
However, stiff competition for Osimhen, with Paris Saint-Germain also interested, and potential moves for Harry Kane and Mathys Tel add further intrigue to Chelsea’s summer transfer plans.
