OFFICIAL: Cole Palmer wins the Premier League 2023-24 Young Player of the Season
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has won the 2023-24 Premier League Young Player of the Season Award. Palmer joined the Blues from Manchester City in the summer and the 22-year-old has made 33 league appearances this season, scoring 22 goals and providing 10 assists.
Palmer has been Chelsea’s catalyst in the attack. He has turned in consistent goal contributions throughout the course of the season. Hence, his winning the Young Player of the Year award is well-deserved.
Palmer’s form has been one of the main reasons behind Chelsea’s recent good showings. Since the turn of the year, only Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool have won more Premier League points than the Blues. Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League with 60 points from 37 matches.
Cole Palmer shows his support for Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino
Cole Palmer has shown his support for Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino. Palmer pinpointed the Blues recent good form and said that the team want to fight for Pochettino. He said (via Outlook India):
“For it to be in our hands to get sixth place is a big thing for us. Chelsea are a big club and everyone wants to finish higher than sixth, but you have to look at where we were at the start of the season. All credit to the manager. All the players love the manager and want to fight for him.”
Pochettino’s Chelsea future looked in doubt a few weeks ago. However, Chelsea’s recent good form could just be enough to save the Argentine’s job. Pochettino has arguably proven that he deserves more time at Stamford Bridge.
