Carlo Ancelotti plays down Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer as Liverpool target Anthony Gordon
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has addressed the ongoing transfer speculations of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold making a move to Spain ahead of the upcoming season.
There were strong links that Trent could be Madrid-bound, especially his friendship with England teammate Jude Bellingham serving as an additional factor to sway the deal.
The 25-year-old’s contract with Liverpool runs out next summer and he has not yet committed to a new deal. This uncertainty has led to speculation that the dynamic defender might leave either this transfer window or as a free agent next year.
However, Carlo Ancelotti has now put these rumours to bed after revealing on Los Blancos’ transfer plans.
Echoing on the same lines, the Real Madrid manager said, “The squad is closed. [Jesús] Vallejo is back, [David] Alaba is recovering. We have young centre-backs like Joan, Jacobo and Raul [Asencio] who are training and have a lot of quality. I believe we are well covered in this position.”
Newcastle eye Anthony Gordon replacement
On the other hand, Liverpool have set their sights on Newcastle star Anthony Gordon. There is still significant speculation about whether the former Everton player might join Anfield in the coming weeks.
