Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti are aware of the challenges leading into the UEFA Champions League final
Carlo Ancelotti Press Conference: Ancelotti insisted he and Real Madrid will keep things simple ahead of the UCL final
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is well aware of the challenges going into the much-awaited UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund (scheduled to be played on June 1, 2024) at the famous Wembley Stadium in London. Despite having a certain degree of experience under his belt in regards to appearing in the UCL final, Ancelotti was pretty circumspect in expressing his thoughts.
The 64-year-old veteran Italian manager reportedly stated – “It’s the same as it was the first time”. He further pointed out – “First there is the joy of being here, then the concerns will come and the fear will come”. “But before they (fear) come we (he and his players) have to enjoy this week and I’m going to enjoy it”, switching on to the lighter aspect of things, the Los Blancos’ manager inflicted.
Praising his Real Madrid player’s work ethic ahead of the UCL final, Carlo Ancelotti expressed – “I see them focused on the match, they are in Champions (League) mode”. He also laid down the fact that there will be some “cold sweat” on the day of the finals for him and his star players. Before the approaching final, the Italian manager has won the Champions League four times in his career till now.
The 64-year-old lifted the prestigious title with Seria A giants AC Milan in 2003 and 2007 respectively. He went on to win the UCL trophy again with Real Madrid in the year 2014 and 2022 respectively. This confirms that the current Los Blancos manager does possess a lot of experience when it comes to playing and winning the Champions League finals.
However, Ancelotti must be aware of the opposition that they are coming up against in the final this time around. Borussia Dortmund will try to make it as tough as possible on the day for their Spanish counterparts. It remains to be seen how things pan out on the grandest stage of club football when the two teams who look quite balanced on paper come up against each other.
Madrid have players like Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior at their disposal. But Dortmund also has that fear factor in the form of Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus. It might come down to nerves on the day of the final. Fair to say, that the team which would be able to play their football freely might snatch the UCL trophy on the occasion.
