Canada has suffered a big blow before its Copa America 2024 quarterfinal fixture against Venezuela on July 5, 2024. The team’s right midfielder Tajon Buchanan was reportedly taken to a hospital after suffering an injury during a recent training session of his national side.
A statement by the national team’s hierarchy inflicted – “Canada soccer (football) confirms that Tajon Buchanan sustained an injury to his lower leg during today’s training session. He has been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment”. Any other major update regarding Buchanan’s injury is yet to come out.

However, at the end of their statement, Canada’s soccer duly mentioned – “We will provide updates as more information becomes unavailable”. Tajon Buchanan has played for Canada in all three matches of the Copa America 2024 so far. While he started against Argentina, Buchanan made a substitute appearance in fixtures against Peru and Chile.
The ongoing Copa America stands out as the first one for Canada’s national soccer team. The Jesse March-coached side progressed into the quarterfinal stage after finishing second in their Group A behind Argentina, after registering a 0-0 draw against Chile. Whether Tajon Buchanan will be available for selection in their upcoming match against Venezuela, remains yet to be confirmed.
