Barcelona outsell Real Madrid to draw the most revenue from kit sales in 2023
Barcelona’s financial restructuring is going well as Blaugrana top the charts of the most-selling football kits in Europe during 2023. According to ESPN, the sales are so good that it generates more profit than Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus combined.
Barca generated €179m the whole year, which is €60m more than they have earned in 2020. For comparison, Tottenham and Juventus gained €74m each, placing them at 10th and ninth respectively.

The Catalan-side’s archrival Real Madrid earned €155m, making the Spanish capital-based club sit at the second place as the most kit-selling club in Europe during 2023. Another Adidas-sponsored team Bayern Munich profits €147m, another ramped-up amount from the €128m they earned two years ago.
Outselling Real Madrid
At the fourth and fifth position, the two England’s northwest rivals Liverpool and Manchester United gained €132 and 130 respectively. This makes The Reds are the Premier League’s leaders in the kit selling contest. But overall, it is a downturn from their €137m kit revenue in 2022.
Paris Saint-Germain earned €97m, leaving them as the only Ligue 1 representative in the Top 10 list. Two London-based teams Arsenal and Chelsea gained €97m and €89m respectively.
This is good news for the club’s operations amid the budget cut announcement last month. In February, LaLiga announced that Barcelona’s annual spending limit was cut by €66m , from €270m to €204m. Barca are not allowed to spend more than such an amount to buy players if they cannot earn more than that.
Madrid’s maximum cap is high up in the sky as Los Blancos set €727m to spend. It is not a surprise that Los Blancos are rumoured to land Kylian Mbappe to Spain from PSG. Meanwhile Atletico Madrid have less than the city rival with €303m.
