Bukayo Saka Injury: Ryan Christie stayed on the pitch despite nasty tackle on Arsenal forward
Bukayo Saka was one of Arsenal’s goal scorers in an emphatic 3-0 win over Bournemouth. His pace is something that should not be overlooked and The Cherries’ Ryan Christie knew it well.
In the 11th minute of the match, Christie made a horrific tackle on Saka. The latter was meant to control the ball using his leg but was caught by Christie’s studs on the knee. Saka was on the floor and when the VAR checked it for a possible card, the answer turned out to be a no.
Bukayo Saka Injury: England youngster continued playing and scored
Christie got away from a yellow card, which he eventually earned in the 90th plus minute after fouling Martin Odegaard. On the other hand, Saka escaped a potentially injury-threatening tackle. The 22-year old carried on and finally scored for Arsenal before the break.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta refused to talk further about the incident. The Spaniard said that he was trying to stay objective as the Saka-Christie fiasco was not the only controversial moment in the game. Apart from the incident involving Saka and Christie, there was also Bournemouth’s disallowed goal due to a foul on Arsenal’s goalie David Raya. Another one was when Kai Havertz was fouled by Mark Travers which according to the latter was a dive.
