Bristol City vs Wolves Player Ratings: Wolves Move Forward After Holding On To The Game Well
It’s all business this weekend as the FA Cup third tie takes over the weekend schedule. Among the big matches, the first one sees Wolves going head-to-head with Bristol City. Prior to the crunch time of the match, Wolves went ahead and announced their line up for the third round tie.
Before the week, the Premier League team gave the fans rather good news with the signing of Agbadou after his impressive performance in Ligue 1. It was all speculation prior to the match. The goalkeeper Johnstone was anticipated to start instead of Jose Sa and Andre was expected to take Tommy Doyle’s place. On a rather discouraging note, Pedro Lima was expected to miss out on this important fixture.
On the other side, Liam Manning was poised to make big changes after their victory against Derby County. Rob Dickie was ruled out due to sickness already. Tanner was supposed to start in his position. On the other hand, Max Bird was supposed to be replaced by McGuane.
It was all to play for as the game started. But Bristol City never thought in their wildest dreams that Wolves would strike back-to-back so quickly. The match opened with goals from Ait-Nouri in the 10th minute followed by Rodrigo Gomes’s goal to double up in the 21st minute.
But at the very end of the first half, Twine showed his magic to score the first goal for his team. The second half resumed shortly and there were lot of questions to be answered.
The second half started with a lot of hope from Bristol City to equalize. However, for the 45 minutes, Wolves held on pretty well and made the necessary changes to see off the game. On the other hand, Bristol City tried their best to equalize and made a lot of changes as well.
However, it was Wolves who have held well till the very end and won the match.

Goalkeeper
O’leary (5/10)
Didn’t anticipate such a quick domination of the opposition team and it showed as he failed to save the two quick goals scored by Wolves.

Third round of the FA Cup tie. A better performance was expected from the Bristol City defender. It was nowhere to be seen in the first half.
Vyner (4/10)
Had no organization with the defense line and left the goalkeeper for worst which saw his team being down to two goals.
McNally (4/10)
Played his part to his team’s awful defence in the 20 minutes of the game. After the storm, he helped his team see more of the ball.
Midfielders
McCrorie (4.5/10)
If anything, he is disappointed in his whole team’s performance. He didn’t get the connection with Knight and Twine as much as he would have liked.
Knight (4/10)
Whatever the tactics were at the beginning of the game, it was nowhere to be seen. And Bristol’s midfield was clearly stating that where Knight played his part. Got subbed off in the 65th minute as Bristol was desperate to equalize.

Tried his best to rally up his team. Even took a yellow card for the team but was failed to compose the group in the first half. Got subbed off in the 69th minute for Earthy.

Perhaps the only player who was always pushing his team to get the momentum and have more control in the midfield.

Lot was expected from the new signing. Had a mix of good and bad in the first half. Too soon to say as he needs time to settle.
