Breaking: Chelsea agree deal with Wolves for star Portuguese winger Pedro Neto
As reported by ‘The Athletic‘, and further backed by ‘Sky Sports’, and renowned football journalists – ‘Fabrizio Romano’ and ‘David Ornstein’, Premier League club Chelsea has agreed upon a deal in principle with fellow league rivals Wolves (Wolverhampton Wanderers) to sign Portuguese winger Pedro Neto in the ongoing summer 2024 transfer window.
The transfer fee involved in the deal is quoted to be around £51.4 million ($65.5 million; €60 million) with a further incentive nearing around £3 million in bonuses.
It was earlier reported that even though Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil would like to keep the 24-year-old at the club for the upcoming season, he was aware of the fact that Neto was attracting interest from some of the top clubs namely – Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham and the Old Gold could sanction a sell come the right price.
As per reports in the English media, Wolves were expected to sell Pedro Neto for nothing less than £60 million considering his swashbuckling performances in the last Premier League season, where he registered 11 goal contributions in 20 outings for the West Midlands club.
However, it seems like the Portuguese’s issue with the injury concerns he suffered throughout the span of the last campaign, has tempted the Old Gold to cut through their price a bit.
‘The Athletic’ has further laid out that Pedro Neto is expected to undergo a medical soon at Chelsea.
