Borussia Dortmund submit bid for forgotten Manchester City defender

German giants Borussia Dortmund have made their opening bid for Manchester City defender Yan Couto, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Girona. The 22-year-old joined the Etihad in the summer of 2020, but has never made an appearance for the Premier League stalwarts.

Couto has never played under Pep Guardiola at City since joining the club four years ago, but has established himself as one of the top players for Girona in La Liga last term. City are demanding €30m for the right-back, but Borussia Dortmund are willing to pay a fee between €20-25m for Couto.

City are expected to make a healthy profit on the Brazilian defender whose contract expires in the summer of 2025.
