Best Captaincy Picks in Fantasy Premier League GW 9
Gameweek 9 of the Fantasy Premier League season is here and along with it, we have many interesting fixtures. Therefore it is important to select a good captain for your teams. We look at the best choices in this article.
5. Mo Salah
So this is an interesting one. Ordinarily, a game against Arsenal is not one to target at all. That being said, there are reasons. Arsenal have a number of key absentees, through injuries and suspension. Liverpool forward Mo Salah is a fantastic player in big games and he is in great form. Both of these he demonstrated against Chelsea last week. If he’s not in your team, this isn’t the game to buy him for. But if he’s there, he could be a solid captaincy pick.

4. Josko Gvardiol
So far, newly promoted Southampton have shown little to demonstrate that they are Premier League level. It is extremely unlikely that they cause any real damage to defending champions Manchester City. Keeping all this in mind, Josko Gvardiol with his form in both ends of the pitch is one to watch this weekend. Should you captain a defender in Fantasy Premier League? Probably not, but this is as safe a choice as it gets.
3. Bryan Mbeumo
Bryan Mbeumo is 24, he plays for Brentford and is one of the most consistent forwards in the league. It is often said that had the Frenchman been a more stylish footballer, he would surely be playing for a bigger club. But he has fully embraced the role as Brentford’s talisman and fulfills it to perfection. Expect a big haul from him as they take on Ipswich who have struggled defensively in the Premier League.
2. Cole Palmer
Cole Palmer has, by common perception, been the best player in the Premier League this season. He has 11 goal contributions, the most out of all players. That being said, he had a really poor outing in Chelsea’s loss against Liverpool last week and drew the flak for that. But the type of player Palmer is, expect a big response against Newcastle this weekend. He is a prime candidate for captaincy this week, just like he is in most weeks.
1. Erling Haaland
Manchester City face Southampton this weekend. That is a good enough reason to have City forward Erling Haaland at the top of this list. But wait, isn’t the Norwegian goalless in three Premier League games? Well, not like that would have mattered but any doubts over his form would have been put to rest with his brace midweek against Sparta Prague, which included a ridiculous acrobatic goal. A hattrick could well be loading this weekend.
