Bernardo Silva to Leave Man City in the Summer and Join a La Liga Club: Reports
Bernardo Silva to exit Man City and achieve the long-desired transfer
Bernardo Silva is expected to leave Man City in the summer of 2024. The Portuguese midfielder has been linked quite often with a move to the La Liga giants FC Barcelona in the past. But this time as reported by ‘Daily Mirror’ and quoted by ‘Transfer News Live’, he looks set to achieve his long-awaited move to the Spanish club.
Silva has been one of the prominent performers for the reigning Premier League champions at the top tier of English soccer. He has also been crucial for Pep Guardiola’s plans in several other domestic and international European competitions, like the Champions League and the FA Cup. He was a crucial part of City’s treble-winning 2020-2021 season.
It would be a major blow for the Premier League side to lose a player of his quality as it won’t be easy to find an adequate replacement for him. Despite City being linked with a couple of midfield options in recent times, none of them possess that much experience and guile that Bernardo Silva has earned so far in his tenure of about seven years with the club till now.
The midfielder’s current contract with Man City darts till June 2026, however with strong reports regarding him leaving the club after the ongoing season ends, it might see him not running out actual contract period at the English club. However, nothing official has been initiated as far as his move to Barca is concerned. It remains to be seen how things turn out for the 29-year-old in the times ahead.
Bernardo Silva for Man City in the 2023-2024 season so far
Bernardo Silva has been sensational for Man City in the Premier League’s 2023-2024 campaign. The midfielder has once again aided City in its title defense, emerging as one of the most significant contributors to the club’s on-field performances. He has played a sum of 27 matches for the team this season so far. In these outings, he has managed a decent tally of six goals and four assists for City.
When it comes to other competitions, Silva has featured in eight UEFA Champions League matches and four FA Cup matches for Pep Guardiola’s side so far in the season. He has notched up four goals and one assist combining both these competitions. He could still prove to be a major player for Man City as they eye dual titles this season in the form of Premier League and FA Cup.
