Bayern Munich relieved as Kane’s ankle injury not serious
Bayern Munich provided the latest update on Harry Kane injury, as the striker’s ankle issue has caused concerns for the Bavarian side.
On Saturday the 31-year-old walked off the field late in the 86th minute after getting knocked in the ankle during a battle with Leverkusen’s Amine Adli for gaining possession, which saw both sides settle for a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga.
“Examinations by the club’s medical unit on Sunday determined a positive development,” said Bayern Munich’s medical team. “Kane will continue to receive appropriate treatment.”
However, the club did not confirm Kane’s fitness for Bayern’s upcoming travel to Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Since the start of the season, this is the first time Kane failed to have a shot on target, but his presence was not lost in Bayern’s attack. He has scored five goals and assisted six in the first four league games while having four goals to his name in the Champions League opener that saw Bayern humiliate Dinamo Zagreb 9-2.
Kane has had a bad history of ankle injuries, particularly during his early years at Tottenham, which seems to creep in once in a while.
“Hopefully it’s nothing serious,” Kompany told the club’s website. “I’m not a doctor but I hope he can play against Aston Villa on Wednesday.”
