Bayern Munich started the match in fine fashion and created a chance within the first minute. However, Leroy Sane could not get his shot past Andrey Lunin after Harry Kane put him through inside the box.
The move was just the start of a barrage of chances for the home side to take the lead, but they failed to convert. Sane again had the chance to put his side ahead in the 7th minute but put his shot over the bar. The move came seconds after Harry Kane had his shot saved by Lunin.
The Englishman went for an audacious attempt in the 9th minute and tried to score from the halfway line. However, his shot just went over the bar, with Lunin running back to get to the line.
Jamal Musiala was the next to get a shot for Bayern Munich, but they failed to capitalize once again. The home side had five chances in the first 12 minutes, and Real Madrid made them pay for not tucking any of them away.
Toni Kroos played an exquisite pass to put Vinicius Jr through, and the Brazilian made no mistake. The Real Madrid star scored the opening goal against the run of play and the away side managed to take control of the game.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men managed to keep hold of the lead until half time. Thomas Tuchel was not pleased and his quick change in tactic saw Bayern Munich get back into the game.
Leroy Sane managed to make a stunning run into the box and fired in the equalizer at the near post. Lunin could not get his hand in position at the right time, and that saw them get back into the game.
Bayern Munich were handed a penalty 2 minutes later after Musiala was brought down by Lucas Vazquez. Kane made no mistake from the spot and slotted it in after sending Lunin the wrong way.
Real Madrid were struggling to deal with the corners from the home side, but they managed to hang on and keep the score 2-1. Both teams had enough chances to score as the game entered the final stage of the first leg.
Kim Min-Jae was having a tough night and it got worse for the South Korean after he brought down Rodrygo inside the box. Vinicius Jr stepped up to score his and Real Madrid’s second of the night.
The final whistle blew with the scoreline at 2-2 and everything to play for in the second leg next Wednesday.
