Bayern Munich shortlists Theo Hernández to replace Alphonso Davies
Ever since he arrived from the MLS, Alphonso Davies’ transformation into one of the best left-backs in world football has seen him linked with a move consistently. The Canadian has thrived at the club, making over 190 appearances for the Bavarians while winning several trophies. That includes five Bundesliga titles and a Champions League crown, even if injuries and various other issues have hurt his development.
But his ability on the ball has never disappeared, which, combined with the fact that he has less than one year left on his contract, has seen links to Real Madrid appear. The Los Blancos are reportedly the front-runners to sign Davies, who is upset with the way his contract extension has been handled. The Canadian is reportedly open to leaving this summer, and it has left Bayern Munich without options.

Bayern Munich looking to sign Theo Hernandez to replace Davies
However, reports have indicated that the club has already begun to shortlist options, with Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko on the list as well. But the German giants now have a far more expensive target in mind, as Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg has reported that Theo Hernandez is on their shortlist. The reporter has revealed that the Bavarians view the Frenchman as their top target to replace Davies.
The 26-year-old is widely considered to be the best left-back in world football and has thrived at AC Milan ever since his move from Real Madrid. So much so, that Hernandez has lifted the Serie A title with the club while also contributing to 68 goals in over 200 appearances as a full-back. That has attracted Bayern Munich but their first choice is to get Davies to sign an extension.
Plettenberg has further reported that the club are confident they can get the Canadian back to the negotiating table and get him to put pen to paper on a long-term deal. That is especially after they appointed Vincent Kompany as their new boss to replace Thomas Tuchel. The Sky Sports reporter also added that Davies is considering his options but remains steadfast on his €20 million a year salary demand.
