Barcelona to move for Rashford after failed Nico Williams pursuit

Barcelona are reportedly considering a move for Marcus Rashford in the remaining part of this transfer window, after their pursuit of Nico Williams ended in failure. As per the Daily Express, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick would love to have a front three comprising of the Englishman, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.

Barca are definitely in the market for a left winger, as shown by their chase of Williams. They have been linked with all kinds of names from Rafael Leao, Kingsley Coman, Federico Chiesa and Raheem Sterling. This shows that they clearly are seeking an update over their existing left wing options Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.

Rashford, although clearly a fantastic player and adored in Manchester, has endured a bit of a rough time of late. Last season was a particularly poor one, with him only getting 7 goals and 2 assists. He was often dropped for big games too.

However there is still a player there which is difficult to ignore. Nearly 200 goal contributions aged 26 make for a great reading. Rashford is also great at running into space, which would suit Yamal’s creative talents and Lewandowski’s tendency of dropping deep. The three could be great together.

Another thing to consider here is that Barcelona are financially hamstrung and it is difficult to see Rashford coming on the cheap. But, if the player is willing, perhaps there could be an exchange of players added to the deal. Time in the transfer window is running out though.
