Ter Stegen may miss rest of season following devastating Injury in Barcelona’s Victory Over Villarreal
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was stretchered out after a horrible injury in the game against Villareal.
After proper examination, reports say that the German ruptured his right knee, meaning surgery is a mandate. This unexpected situation will keep Barcelona’s no 1 out for at least 8 months, which means he will probably miss out on the remaining part of the season.
Barcelona’s brilliant La Liga form which only brought smiles, has suddenly seen a change in mood. The La Liga leaders thrashed Villarreal, to continue their perfect record of victories, however, the only negative part came after Ter Stegen’s serious knee injury in the first half left the traveling supports devasted.
After the first scan, the medical team estimated that the German goalkeeper had ruptured a patellar tendon in his right leg. The period of absence will be a massive blow for the dressing room, as the leading voice of the squad is injured.
Moreover, the most optimistic forecast suggests that Ter Stegen could only rejoin the squad in April or May, which is the end of the season. This raises both on and off-field challenges regarding his replacement.
