Barcelona reject €200 million for Lamine Yamal, claimed Laporta

Lamine Yamal is one of the most prospective football talents in the world and has now developed into a precious gem for Barcelona. Lately, president Joan Laporta claimed that he rejected an offer of €200 million to take the 16-year old player away from Camp Nou.

Yamal has emerged as another promising youngster in La Masia since Xavi Hernandez handed him a senior debut against Real Betis in April last year. He has bagged six goals from 49 games for the Blaugrana so far.

Marca reported that Paris Saint-Germain was one of the interested parties for Yamal. The Ligue 1 side need a restructuration once Kylian Mbappe leaves the capital side for Real Madrid in the near future.

Lamine Yamal will stay at Barcelona for a long time

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco guaranteed that Yamal is not going anywhere. The former Blaugrana midfielder mentioned that the management is planning a strategic plan for the club’s future with the young players they have.

“We’ve everything on track for Lamine Yamal’s future,” he said, quoted by a transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Barcelona fenced the player until the June of 2026, putting a €1 billion release clause on him as well.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona are in talks with Lamine Yamal’s agent Jorge Mendes. The plan is to extend the contract until 2030, or when the Catalan-born winger turns 24 years old. But due to his age, it is only possible for him to be handed a three-year deal and add another when he reaches 18.

“We will extend Lamine Yamal’s contract when he turns 18,” Deco  told Esport3. “We are not afraid that he will leave because of the pact agreed upon when Lamine signed his last official document. We have a contract for the next eight years.”

Lamine Yamal has no intention of leaving Barcelona soon

Lamine Yamal is happy with Barcelona according to his latest statement on the club’s website. He also mentioned that his plan is to develop his game with Blaugrana for some years to come.

“It’s been a dream to be able to play for FC Barcelona in front of our fans,” he said. “It’s also a unique experience to share a dressing room with world class players. I am really content and happy.

“Everything is all new to me. Nothing like this had ever happened to me. My only intention is to keep playing and enjoying being in the Barça shirt.”

The Ghanaian descendant said that it was his manager XavI Hernandez who motivated him to play well on the pitch. Especially to overcome fear which is something normal for a young player like him.

“As Xavi says, fear is one thing you should not have,” he added. “It can hurt your game; it does not bring anything positive thinking about fear. You just have to be happy and enjoy having the ball at your feet.”
