5 Barcelona players who performed well in friendly against Manchester City

The Catalans began their pre-season tour of the US with a 2-2 stalemate against the Premier League champions.

Barcelona continued their preparations for the 2024-25 season with a friendly game against Manchester City in Orlando, United States. The two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, before the La Liga giants prevailed on penalties. Pau Victor put Hansi Flick’s side in front after 24 minutes into the kick-off, before Nico O’Reilly equalized for City 15 minutes later. Pablo Torre restored Barcelona’s lead in the added minutes of the opening stanza but City once again wiped out their lead, this time through Jack Grealish in the second half.

5 Barcelona players who impressed against Manchester City

Marc Casado

The young defender showed plenty of aggression, industry and willingness in the face of City’s onslaught. Captain of Barcelona’s youth side, Casado could receive a senior call-up if he continues in the same vein. He possesses the ability to read the game well and has the potential to develop into a solid defensive option for them.

Pablo Torre

Pablo Torre appears to be enjoying life at Barcelona already, following a difficult year with Girona last season. He scored their only goal of the 1-0 win over Olot last week and now found the net again with a sizzling finish in the bottom corner. His pressing game gave City plenty to think about.

Marc Bernal

Calm and composed in possession, Bernal was unperturbed by the stature of their opponents. His presence was reassuring for Hansi Flick’s side and the 21-year-old will certainly look forward to seeing more action with the Blaugrana.

Clement Lenglet

The estranged Barcelona centre-back had a good game, being an imposing figure in defense and showing great positional awareness. His future appeared to be uncertain, but with the Catalans currently running short of options at the back, the Frenchman might have a chance.

Pau Victor

He put Barcelona in front with a cool finish and looked confident throughout. The young gun also helped out defensively whenever needed, while pulling off a cheeky dummy for Torre’s goal. Victor has been recalled from Girona this season and could be set for a big season ahead.
