Ronald Araujo’s price might force Barcelona to offload him next summer
Barcelona are actively looking for any opportunity to sell key players to restructure the club’s financial stability. After Frenkie De Jong who is reported to be sold this summer, now the news is circling around Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo.
His red card against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League has sparked rumours about his future. However, the incident was not the exact reason why Barcelona intend to offload him next season.
Ronald Araujo’s price has been increasing gradually
Araujo is still on-contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2026. Since breaking into the first team from Barcelona B, his market value has been increasing gradually, estimated to be around €70 million.
The former Boston River player also has been linked with Bayern Munich who are reportedly ready to purchase as much as €110 million for his signature. However, Araujo made a statement regarding the rumours, stressing about leaving his future up to the board members.
“The club has initiated conversations with my agents,” Araujo said via Barcelona Noticias. We are thinking in these parties and in what it remains the season, and when it finish the season will seat to speech.”
With a dream of winning the sixth Champions League trophy now shattered, Barcelona’s focus is now on securing the second spot in the league. Barca are scheduled to host Valencia at Camp Nou by the end of the month and Araujo is likely to take part.
