Barcelona hoping to secure Mikel Merino transfer ahead of Arsenal
The Catalan giants are in the market for a new box-to-box midfielder and have established their interest in the transfer of Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino, whose contract with the Spanish club expires in the summer of 2025.
The 28-year-old Spaniard played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph this summer and he has reportedly received the seal of approval of Barcelona coach Hansi Flick over a move. Barcelona believe they can close the deal for around €20m, which makes Merino an affordable option for the cash-strapped club.
Merino will be available for a bargain this summer and has also reportedly attracted interest from Premier League giants Arsenal.
