Axel Disasi linked with Newcastle United as Chelsea await Magpies’ move amid Guehi uncertainty
Newcastle United target Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, while talks stall over the deal to sign defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
What unfolded?
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been on Newcastle United’s radar for quite some time, however, the England international has failed to sign a deal with the Seagulls so far. As per media reports from the UK’s leading sports channels, the Magpies’ latest bid worth £60million (€70m/$76m) plus £5 million in add-ons was rejected by Palace who looks at £70m (€81m/$91m) to close the deal for the 24-year-old.
In the Grand Context
The report further claims that Newcastle has begun exploring options with Bayer Leverkusen’s Edson Tapsoba and Chelsea’s Axel Disasi as potential targets Disasi who joined Chelsea last summer, played 44 games across all competitions in his debut campaign. However, a hernia surgery in the summer
caused him to miss the pre-season and has so far missed the Premier League opener against Manchester City in Chelsea’s 2024-25 squad.
Looking ahead
The exact date of Disasi’s return is unclear and he is also set to miss the Europa Conference League play-off first leg against Servette on Thursday. Moreover, Guehi seems to be fully fit and will be seen in action in the Premier League as the Eagles host West Ham United.
