Austria will host Slovenia in an important UEFA Nations League clash on Sunday, November 17. It will be the final group game for both sides and it could also be their final game in the competition this season.
Norway, Austria, and Slovenia all sit at seven points in League B Group 3 of the UEFA Nations League 2024-25 after four games. Hence, any of these two teams could qualify for the next round. In the fifth match, Slovenia will face Norway while Austria will take on bottom-placed Kazakhstan. Austria are expected to win that match, which could secure their place in the knockouts.
Slovenia, meanwhile, will be hoping to get a positive result against Norway and would still need to not lose against Austria to qualify. They have been on a decent run lately though will be confident of taking points from Austria even away from home.
It’s important to note that both sides also have a match on Thursday (November 14) and hence, their team news could change after that.

Key Players to watch in Austria vs Slovenia
Marko Arnautovic
Marko Arnautovic, who has played for some top clubs across Europe, is still going strong at the age of 35. The former West Ham United, and Werder Bremen star is currently with Inter Milan, having joined them from Bologna last summer. However, he spent last season on loan at Bologna.
Arnautovic has scored one goal in six appearances across competitions for Inter Milan this season and has started just two games. However, he remains an important player for Austria and also captains the side. He scored twice in their 5-1 win over Norway last time out.
Overall, he has scored 39 goals and provided 27 assists in 120 games for Austria. He will look to add to his tally to take them into the knockout rounds.
Benjamin Sesko
Benjamin Sesko has been one of the most promising strikers in world football in recent years. His ball-striking ability has garnered interest from clubs across Europe.
Sesko currently plays for RB Leipzig at the club level and has scored 25 goals and provided five assists in 57 games across competitions for them. This season, he’s registered seven goals and three assists in 17 games across competitions.
For Slovenia, meanwhile, the 21-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 37 games across competitions. He has already scored four goals in four UEFA Nations League 2024-25 games. However, they all came in the first two matches and he failed to score last month. He will be keen to change that on Sunday.

Austria vs Slovenia Prediction
With Group 3 of League B incredibly tight, all remaining four fixtures hold utmost importance in the race for qualification. Austria will host Slovenia in their final game and would’ve faced Kazakhstan away on Thursday. If they beat the Kazakhs, Austria would be in a comfortable position as even a draw would secure their place in the knockouts.
Austria have won just two of their last five games across competitions but both of them came in their last two games. They beat Kazakhstan 4-0 before hammering Norway 5-1, both at home.
Slovenia, meanwhile, have won just two of their last nine games but also lost just one, drawing the others. They beat Kazakhstan 3-0 before losing 3-0 against Norway and then beating Kazakhstan 1-0 again.
While Slovenia have the quality of Benjamin Sesko, facing Austria away from home will be a tough task and it’s hard to see them get a positive result.
Predicted Score: Austria 3-1 Slovenia
