Aurelien Tchouameni is announced injured, an addition to France’s injury crisis prior to the Euro
Appearing in 38 games with three goals scored plus a league title for Real Madrid, the national team spot was a guarantee for Aurelien Tchouameni. However, it’s not the record nor the national team coach that draws a fine line between himself and the national team.
Tchouameni could miss the 2024 Euro with France after suffering a fracture on his metatarsal in the game against Bayern Munich. Madrid actually had a warning regarding the midfielder’s situation from six days before the second leg game at Santiago Bernabeu.

But Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted Tchouameni play, leading to the Frenchman playing for 70 minutes before making way for Edu Camavinga in the second half. The staff learned that the pain was worsening and examined the situation after the game.
According to L’Equipe, Tchouameni suffered the same type of injury as the one that made him absent for months earlier this season. With the 24-year-old possibly out for the summer, this has become a huge blow for France.
The former champions also lost Lucas Hernandez for the summer due to an ACL tear. There has not been an official statement from the national team regarding the injury crisis a month before Euro.
This year’s edition of Euro would be the first for Tchouameni who was not even handed a senior cap in the previous one. Two major tournaments he had participated in were the UEFA Nations League and the World Cup in 2022.
