Athletic Club 0-2 Barcelona Player Ratings: La Masia graduates shine as Blaugrana secure final spot

Barcelona qualified for the final of the Spanish Super Cup after a convincing victory against Athletic Bilbao at the King Abdullah Sports City on Wednesday. La Masia graduates Pablo Gavi and Lamine Yamal guided the Blaugrana by making a difference. Gavi scored one and set up the other for Yamal to secure a 2-0 victory against the rivals.

Barcelona kept their pressure throughout the game but their Basque opponents managed to find their way through Barca’s defence but goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was on his toes to keep the opposition at bay. After this victory, Hansi Flick’s side will face either Real Madrid or Mallorca in the final, with the second semi-final game to be played on Thursday.

Alejandro Balde: 8.0/10- He was on the pitch for around 83 minutes and had a great game contributing in both defence as well as attack. He saw Gavi run into the box and cut the pass back perfectly, low and in front, for him to tap into the net.

Inigo Martinez: 6.5/10- Had a normal game in defence as he also tried to influence the team in attack. He created multiple opportunities in attack and had four passes into the final third.

Pau Cubarsi: 7.0/10- The Spanish centre-back capped a solid defensive display with a passing accuracy of 95 percent. He was involved in eight defensive actions and made five recoveries for his team.
