Aston Villa vs Man United Player Ratings as Scott McTominay grabs late winner for the Red Devils

Aston Villa vs Man United Summary

Manchester United rallied late to secure a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League at Villa Park on Sunday, February 11.

The visitors made a great start to the game and were on the front foot from the get-go. They looked to keep the ball in Aston Villa’s half in a bid to push the hosts’ backs against the wall. This approach paid off as Rasmus Hojlund fired Manchester United 1-0 up after 17 minutes following an assist from Harry Maguire.

Despite 10 first-half attempts, Villa could not do enough to threaten Andre Onana in United’s goal. The Red Devils had just one attempt on target in a first half that ended 1-0.

The possession stats were fairly similar for the second half as well. Aston Villa looked to keep the ball for lengthy spells, with Manchester United looking to sit back and hit on the counter. However, the hosts had their say and got back into the game as Douglas Luiz scored in the 67th minute with a smart finish.

Substitute Scott McTominay then won the game for the Red Devils in the 86th minute as he nodded home Diogo Dalot’s cross to make it 2-1. Villa tried hard to get a late equalizer but in vain, as United held on to secure the win.

On that note, let’s take a look at the player ratings for both sides.
