Liverpool FC took an early lead after Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez spilled a cross to the back of his own net (2′). Youri Tielemans equalized in the 12th minute before Cody Gakpto (23′) and Jarell Quansah (48′) gave the Reds a two-goal lead. However, Jhon Duran (85′, 88′) scored twice in quick succession to earn a draw for Unai Emery’s side.

Emi Martinez– 6.5: Scored an own goal. Martinez, however, made five saves, three from his inside area.
Lucas Digne– 6: Digne struggled to contain Liverpool’s progress down the channels and could have done better.
Pau Torres– 6.5: Could have done better defensively. Torres, however, did well with the ball at his feet and was adept with his passing range.
Diego Carlos– 6: Nor Carlos’ best performance. While he passed the ball around well, the center-back was defensively frail in a game where his side conceded thrice.
Douglas Luiz– 7: Luiz looked effective with his passing and also made one key pass for his side.
Youri Tielemans– 7.5: Tielemans was effective from the midfield and scored Villa’s opening goal from the edge of the area with a well-taken finish.
John McGinn– 7: Was a positive presence on the wings and dictated the team’s attack efficiently.
Moussa Diaby– 8.5: Had a stellar game and continuously bamboozled Liverpool’s defense. Diaby created two big chances and bagged an assist.
Leon Bailey -7.5: Bailey played a good game. He created a big chance and completed three key passes. Missed a golden chance as well.
Ollie Watkins– 6.5: Provided the assist for Villa’s opening goal. However, Watkins didn’t make any more significant impact on proceedings.

Alisson– 5.5: Not his best night. The Brazilian was at fault for Duran’s first goal of the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold– 6.5: Had a volleyed effort saved after striking it well with his left foot. Was not very effective for the remainder of the game.
Jarell Quansah– 8: Had a good outing and also found the back of the net with a well-taken goal.
Virgil van Dijk– 7: The Liverpool captain was efficient with his passing and spread the ball around really well.
Joe Gomez– 7: Made a few important tackles and interceptions and also played the ball around well for his team.
Harvey Elliott– 7: Good performance from the youngster who bagged an assist. His passing was on point and was also important for his team’s creativity.
Wataru Endo- 7: Was a solid presence in the middle of the park and passed the ball around well.
Alexis Mac Allister– 6: Not the Argentine’s best performance. He was also turned on his back for Duran’s first goal.
Mo Salah– 7: Complete two dribbles, made two key passes, and created a big chance. Salah was effective whenever he got involved.
Cody Gakpo– 7.5: Impressive performance from the Dutchman who led the line. Gakpo also found the back of the net with a close-range finish.
Luis Diaz– 7: Was effective. Out of his 23 passes during the game, four were key passes.
