Aston Villa 4-2 Celtic: Player Ratings as Morgan Rogers’ hat-trick takes Emery’s men straight to round of 16
Aston Villa hosted Celtic at Villa Park in the UEFA Champions League on January 29 and secured a 4-2 win to qualify directly for the round of 16.
The hosts made a great start as Morgan Rogers’ quickfire double fired them 2-0 up just five minutes into the match. However, Villa were unable to expand their advantage and Celtic capitalized on that. Adam Idah made it 2-2 before the break with a brace of his own.
Ollie Watkins then scored to make it 3-2 for Aston Villa in the 60th minute but missed a penalty seven minutes later. Both managers made a host of changes but the Villans had the last laugh as Rogers completed his hat-trick late in the game to make it 4-2.
