Aston Villa put forward an offer for AS Roma’s Italian international: Report

According to ‘Football London’, Premier League club Aston Villa has put forward an offer to sign Serie A giants AS Roma’s Italian international player Bryan Cristante. Villa has already signed Amadou Onana from Everton in the ongoing summer transfer window when it comes to strengthening its midfield options leading into the new season.

But, it seems like the West-Midlands club is further on the lookout for more such players. The report from ‘Football London’ has further insisted that Aston Villa’s Football Operations President namely ‘Monchi’, is a huge admirer of AS Roma’s Cristante and is eager to bring him to Villa Park this summer. Apparently, he was the one who signed the 29-year-old defensive midfielder at AS Roma during his tenure there.

Now, Monchi alongside Villa’s manager Unai Emery have reportedly tipped in an offer of around £17 million to pursue Roma to sell Cristante this summer. It remains to be seen how things progress further on this one. Whether Roma agrees to do the deal or choose to repudiate Aston Villa’s initial offer, would be an interesting saga to follow.

Cristante’s current contract with AS Roma runs till June 2027. In the last Serie A season, he played 37 matches for the club. In these appearances, he scored three goals and registered four assists to his name. He could turn out to be a great value addition to Unai Emery’s squad if Villa manages to poach him in this window.
