AS Roma vs Parma Player Ratings – La Joya scores a brace as Roma trash Parma to makes four wins in their last five matches.

AS Roma continued their brilliant form ever since hiring Claudio Ranieri as they sealed a 5 – 0 win against Parma. The Giallorossi had another quality game, with one of the best performances of the season, especially attacking-wise.

Roma were coming off an emphatic win against Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia and were hoping to continue the good run. They got a dream start and got an early lead when they won a penalty after a clumsy tackle from Balogh in the box. Dybala, who won the penalty, took the responsibility and converted it calmly. The wave of Roma attacks continued and in the 12th minute, Roma doubled their lead after Saelemakers drilled the ball into the near post with a brilliant volley after he combined with the wingback on the other side, Angelino. Parma tried to threaten Roma with efforts from outside the box, but Roma handled them comfortably.

In the second half, Roma added another one after they were gifted by Parma a goal, when they failed to clear Saelemaeker’s shot properly, which Dybala tapped it into the empty net. There was a slight VAR scare but they deemed the referee’s decision correct. Parma made multiple changes to counter the damage but it was to no avail. Parma’s lack of discipline cost them again, as clumsily clashed with Saelemaekers in the box. Dybala surprisingly gave away the ball to Paredes, who calmly converted it to score his first goal of the season. Roma could have scored six at the end of the game, when Dovbyk returned the favour to Dybala, which he skied it surprisingly, despite having an open goal. Ranieri, to everyone’s shock, did not make any substitutions, but his team maintained the same intensity until the end of the game despite securing the match.

Goalkeeper

Svilar: 7/10 – He made a great flying save to deny a shot from outside the box but other than that, most of them were regulation saves.

Defenders

Mancini: 7/10 – A calm and composed performance from the centreback, contributed offensively too with some passes that could have been assists.

Hummels: 7.5/10 – He made some good tackles and surprisingly made some good forward runs into the box during counter attacks.

N’Dicka: 7/10 – A good defensive display and handled the responsibility of stopping their star player Dennis Man fairly well.

Angelino: 7.5/10 – He assisted Saelemakers for the second goal with a good cross into the box. A stupid foul in the second half for which he was rightfully booked.

Saelemaekers: 8.5/10 – Not just a brilliant volley to double the lead, it was a sensational performance at the wingback position from Saelemaekers, running tirelessly up and down and was in sync with the other Roma attackers.

Midfielders

Kone: 7.5/10 – The skillful midfielder was fantastic again, often using his physicality and passing to beat the opposition.

Paredes: 8/10 – The defensive midfielder was put on another good display, intercepting passes at the right time on multiple occasions. His penalty was calm and collected too.

Forwards

El Shaarawy: 6.5/10 – He had a misjudgment when he interrupted a cross which would have been a simple goal for Dovbyk had he left it alone.

Dybala: 9.5/10 – He was lively throughout the game, won the penalty himself and then converted it calmly to give Roma the lead. Despite having a chance to get a hat-trick, he gave away the second penalty to Paredes and squared it to Dovbyk when he himself could have scored.

Dovbyk: 7/10 – A relatively quiet game for the Ukranian, often failing to capitalise on the chances created. Yet, he got an assist and a goal, which was a bit lucky as the ball got deflected off him and the goal was gifted by Dybala who squared it to him at point blank range.

Substitutes

No substitutions were made by AS Roma in the match.

Manager

Claudio Ranieri: 10/10 – A tactical masterclass from him to turn the tide of Roma who were on a slippery slope. The intensity of the team, especially during attacking routines was intense and his defensive players worked hard to keep the clean sheet.
