Arsenal vs Tottenham Preview

  • Tournament: Premier League
  • Date: 15th January 2025
  • Kickoff time: 20:00
  • Venue: Emirates Stadium

It is the North London Derby in the Premier League this week with Arsenal hosting Tottenham at the Emirates. The two sides are coming into the game after poor displays in the FA Cup.

Arsenal was knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United and lost to Newcastle United in the first leg of the semifinal of the Carabao Cup last week. However, they are unbeaten in the last five Premier League matches, with three wins and two draws.

The Gunners are second in the Premier League table and have lost just twice this season. They can close the gap on top to three points, but Liverpool has two games in hand.

Tottenham are in terrible form in the Premier League with three losses in their last four matches and a draw. They are sitting 12th in the table and will remain in the bottom half regardless of the results this week.

However, Spurs defeated Liverpool last week in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal. They needed extra time to beat non-League side Tamworth in the FA Cup, but they will be happy they got the win.

Arsenal Team News

Gabriel Jesus is the latest player ruled out for Arsenal and that will be a big headache for Mikel Arteta. Ethan Nwaneri, Bukayo Saka, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also out for the Gunners.

Reports suggest it could be an ACL injury for the Brazilian, and Arteta’s words added fuel to the fire, “Big worry, that’s my feeling. He had to come off on a stretcher with a lot of pain, touching his knee. It’s not looking good. The worrying factor is the feeling that he had. When he had to come off and the pain that he was in.”

Tottenham have a bunch of players out for the North London Derby. Rodrigo Bentancur is the latest player on the sidelines and he joins Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie. Richarlison is also expected to be ruled out while Fraser Forster is doubtful.

Ange spoke about the issue with Bentancur and said, “It looks like a concussion but nothing more than that. He was in the hospital, obviously, and they did all of the tests to check and ensure everything is okay. And all good. He is back home. He is fine. He is feeling good. We’ll obviously follow the protocols now. I think it is a couple of weeks where you have to make sure everything is okay.”
